If you are looking for real peace and relaxation this is the perfect place. Artists like writers, designers or painters love to spend longer time here to work creatively and get inspired. You can just enjoy long walks in the nature or do yoga, biking, and surfing. You can also relax by taking sun and swimming at wonderful lonely beaches. Apart from August you will probably be one of very few people on the beach. The best way to explore the wonderful area is to rent a car. Then you can visit best the many beaches, the castle which was built by the Arabs in former times, the romantic villages, the mountains of the Serra de Monchique or the most south-western point of Europe, Sagres and the cape. You can also have a nice excursion to the typical cities of Lagos, Odemira or Portimao. The famous Alentejo with its soft hills and plains, full of cork oaks and wheat, is also close by. Local food, especially delicious fresh fish and seafood, can be found in the little typical restaurants of the area. YOU SHOULD COME WITH YOUR OWN TRANSPORT. it is very remote.
