Situated on the edge of the ancient village of Nikokleia, is the charming Vasilias Nikoklis Inn. This small family owned and run hotel, located six kilometres inland from Pafos International Airport and twenty minutes drive from the town of Pafos was previously an ancient khan, a place for travellers to rest and feed both themselves and their animals. The Inn stands on a bend on the west bank of the Dhiarizos river with views up the valley to the Troodos mountains and down the valley to the sea. Nikokleia is a small, quiet, scenic village some 17 kilometres east of Pafos. It is situated in the valley of the Dhiarizos river, amid citrus groves, orchards and vineyards. The village was named after King Nikoklis of Pafos (320BC). The Inn takes its name from him, Vasilias meaning King. There is a local belief that Nikokleia was used by King Nikoklis as the garden to his royal palace in Paleapafos, now Kouklia village. Paleapafos was the capital of Cyprus at that time. This may or may not be true! But it would indicate that the village is probably over 2000 years old! The church of Ayios Dimitrios, established in 1768AD has many interesting icons.
